  • A Mossi zoomorphic mask, from the region Kaya, Burkina Faso, of hollowed form and large proportions, the face with open-worked beak, a striated vertical central ridge, bean-shaped eyes, the ears are circular, three branches spring from the plank, a head of a Kalao bird emerges from the middle plank, the mask carved in low relief with varied geometric motifs, the mask pierced through at the rim for attachment, carved from three pieces of wood; the encrusted patina shows age and cultic use, several cracks
